Art Journal with Rubber Dance and my 2014 word

Last year I picked a word for my crafty life. The word was DARE.
I think I followed this word in my crafting and dared to try things I never did before. Some of those things were successful, some  were less, but at least I tried hard to follow my path.
The only thing I didn't try last year was a real art journalling. I didn't even have a real journal to work with.
I have one now and today I want to share with you my very first art journal double spread with this so obvious title : DARE.
I am not sure if this is the way art journal should look, but it's my journal and my way of art expression, so I think I like it this way.
I made the background with lots of mediums, paper pieces, mesh, tapes and a lot of stencils used with texture paste.
I stamped with Rubber Dance background stamps and added the main sentiment using Think Again set.
The word Dare was made with stencil and black ink. The eyes are the main issue over this page: my vision of things I dared to try last 2014 year.

I used those " mute" pastel colors just for one major reason: I was afraid to make too many mistakes with dark colors. With light ones the repair is easy (some gesso and it's all done).
I really hope I am on the right way with my new art journal adventure.
Please be gentle with me! I dare, but I do make mistakes. We all do. And we grow within all own mistakes.
Rubber dance stamps used to make this project:
Think Again
Flourishes

Cute lo

This is my first project made for Scrapplezier as their guest designer.
I got some products to design with and added some  as this was not a kit to work with, so some of my products are not from the shop (chipboards mostly)

Something about this project:
Distress the blue patterned paper and tear it a bit around; glue it over the black cardstock.
Cut 3 circles from the second patterned paper and arrange them as shown. Make 3 rectangles for photo matting . Die cut the background, Pretty frame and a doily (I used Die Versions dies, but you can use whatever you have if it's similar to my designs). Arrange the background (cut into two halves), the doily (cut into two) and cut out the word " Pretty" out of the frame. Glue all matting pieces together using 3d foam glue. Add  photo over the matting cluster. Hand cut some flowers from the patterned paper and arrange them on the left side of the circles. Cut out the bird cage and glue it on the top. Heat emboss some chipboard shapes such as leaves, flowers, birds and make  the title cluster . Add the heat embossed title and make some white dots (to combine with the photo outfit). Glue the birds near  the cage. Make speech bubble with die cut words " I love you" and glue them with Glossy accents over the bubble. Add  a swirl and two metal caps as shown.

Spring bottle cup magnet with TPD

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my weekly post made for Two Paper Divas stamp company.
This time I decided to make the OOP project and made this huge bottle cap magnet/ornament/ whatever.

I covered it inside with pink lace and pink ribbon; added a huge pink tulle bow; covered the inside with Japanese paper ( almost non seen....sorry) and made the stamped on the vellum inside circle.
I used  one of those cute stamps from TPD Seed Packet Flowers set, stamped with white ink over  milky vellum and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
Then I colored each flower with distress markers and glued it inside over the Japanese paper. I added Zva Creative pearl strips inside and my shabby magnet was done.

Key to my heart

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here again and this is my last card made  in January with new DV release.
DV new release is totally different and totally delicious: new fantastic sets of dies and stamps make your crafty life easy and outstanding.
I love all combo sets  in the shop and I am very glad to get two sets that I love even more:
Tweety Pie dies and Tweety Pie stamps and Sail Away  dies and Sail away  stamps.
This is my second card made with Tweety Pie set and I also added one DV background die as my basic matting of this card (Ovals background)

This time I used a few pieces that were already die cut and I didn't use them on my first card.
And I still believe in gold as a color trend in 2015 I painted the lock and the key  with gold glitter , added a bit of clear glitter over the empty places and stamped the sentiment with red ink.
As Valentine is near, this is a very fast kind of cards to make just with one single die and stamp DV set.

You can follow the Die-Versions BlogFacebook Page, and shop till you drop at the Die-Versions Website!!!
Hope you like my card and hope to see you here again soon with my next project.

Tag with IBS

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Today I am going to share a tag made with Inspired By Stamping stamps and dies .

I made this tag with Rejoice paper collection from PHP and some of their 3d stickers, but  the bird was stamped, heat embossed and colored with Faber Castell Big Brush Pens and hand cut to make a kind of a sticker to fit the tag. All labels were die cuts with IBS  dies from patterned paper and I added a lot of fancy ribbons and even a piece of old fabric to this several layers  tag.

Stamps used from Inspired by Stamping:
Iris (the sentiment)
  Winter Birds(Chickadee)

My old technique and new sentiment over this Mixed Media card made for Inspired by Stamping. I used a mask with texture paste, embossing powders and then stamped a circle and a love sentiment inside the tag and adhered them over the stamped circle.
Easy and fancy card. Don't you think so?

Meg's Garden mini book

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Today I am going to share  my third project made with Meg's Garden most beautiful French Garden mini book kit.
This time I made this folded from one single 12*12'' (30*30 cm) cardstock book . A few years ago I made a full tutorial about this kind of folded mini album and since then it's my most visited post. So here is a link to my own previous tutorial and then you  are going to see the new book with the same folding.
Folded book tutorial by Irit Shalom

I made the base using corrugated Kraft cardstock and as this kind of an album should be pretty flat (the only way to close it after all is to leave it flat), I made a bit of embellishing over the cover and the inside  is pretty much minimalistic.

And the side view of this cover:

I added Meg's Garden flowers, but misted them a bit with a light pink mist to get the color that fits the ribbon and embossing powder colors.
All ribbons, transparency butterflies, paper lace , fibers  and a metal piece are from Meg's Garden shop. I just added some pearls and a chipboard title .

Now we begin to open my book by unfolding the cover to the left.

And a bit of a side view of this page:

Another unfold with middle section up:

Now the middle piece is going down and we can see actual photos of my lovely grandchildren.

And the full unfolded mini with more lovely photos:

As you can see it's a very easy album and you don't need more than a good basic cardstock, lovely photos and great Meg's Garden products. 2 hours mostly and you have this gorgeous gift album made and ready to become the most precious present to your loved ones.

Meg's Garden products used:
French Garden kit
Vintage trinkets
Butterfly transparency
Ribbons
Paper lace

Live with passion (and everything else)

Hello my dear crafty friends!
This is my weekly post made with delicious Two Paper Divas stamps and this time a simple card with not so simple sentiment from TPD shop.

A bit about how this card was made:
I made the background with 2 kinds of washi tapes; added another glitter tape over and heat embossed chipboard stars with gold and silver powders.
The matting and the stamped panel were die cut with Spellbinders and the sentiment was simply stamped with black ink.
This is a totally golden and silver card, also it's like yellow, but it's a real yellow gold not so much seen on this photo.

Create with my own imagination

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my first post made for ETI company.
First of all I want to say thanks. Thanks for Ann Butler who arranged us to get those gorgeous ETI products to play with. Thanks for ETI for the most generous box of goodies I ever got. Thanks for my little sister who is an American  and helped me to get those fantastic ETI goodies during my USA visit. And thanks for my my jet lag that helped me to finish this project pretty soon after I came home.
So now let's see the project.
I know that usually resin art means jewelry or  something connected to the wearable art. Not this time. My project is totally Mixed Media altered canvas and it shows you the way to use products that generally are connected to one kind of projects, used on another kind of projects and it mostly showcase the versatility of ETI products.
First I began with preparing ETI pieces as no one can shorten those products drying time.
1.  Molding and casting exciting shapes
Make molds for some wooden cogs with Easy Mold Silicone Putty. This is the fast, no- toxic kind of molds and you don't need to use gloves (as most of them don't fit the mold components, containing Sulfur and will delay the chemical process). You do need two equal parts of both colors of the mold. Don't have any measure device? Here is my tip: use chip plastic tube; mark the line so even if you don't have an equal level of both products you will fill the tube with the equal amount of component.
Look how easy it is! I made two loads of each component as I made some bigger molds with this mixture.

And from the top- just  to show how it works. Keep two tubes and mark them for white and purple component. Dont' use the same tube for both!

Try to keep your room cool, like 21C/70F to get the best working time. Work fast! Mix  both components and  press your object into the putty. Leave it there for half an hour.If you use plaster or acrylic you can use it right away. If you are going to use resins, wait for 24 hours.
For this particular project I made molds for wooden lower left corner cogs. (Sorry, I didn't take photos of this stage as this is very easy step and I didn't want this post to be  too long).
2. Casting EnviroTex Jewelry Clay into shop made mold is an easy part. Be sure  to mix the equal amount of both clay component USING GLOVES . If you  want you clay to be colored add some pigments or paints.  My photos here are showing the general casting of Jewelry clay and just one single piece from here will be added to my finished project (the round amber piece on the lower left corner; all other pieces were made for another project). To get this amber color I added a few drops of Amber Transparent Resin Dye into a mixed clay, but you sure can use the row clay and to paint it later with different paints and mediums.
The metal piece on the bottom of my photo is a polymer clay knife  we use to cut the leftovers from the top of casted  clay. You sure can use any craft knife, but those special ones are not expensive and made for this very matter.

3. Using High Gloss Finish  for embedding a chipboard shape
This is the most tricky part of this post: how to  make a simple chipboard shape durable and even wearable (we didn't need it for this project, but I was on a roll...)
First cover the bare chipboard with pigment ink (I used Clearsnap Bark) ; then cover it with Clear Embossing powder (Clearsnap used here) and heat emboss . Make it from the both sides if you are going to use it as a part of something  wearable. For this project single side was sufficient.

Now  for the part I am not sure about: I sealed the heat embossed piece with Ultra Sealer and I made it twice. I was not sure how much heat embossed surface is really sealed, so I made this step after all.

The next - adding resin step- was not photographed as I was very busy to keep  this filled with liquid resin piece on its place. So just the explanation:
Use High Gloss Finish and work according to instructions. Add a few drops of the same Amber pigment to the mixed material. Arrange the embossed chipboard over the  piece of non permanent adhesive material and try to keep it on its place during the pouring process. As this piece is very low I had a lot of left overs around. Leave them for a few hours and then trim the adhesive piece around the chipboard and cut the leftovers. Make it like 12 hours  after the pouring. Dont' take the piece of the adhesive  for 12 more hours and then just peel it off and your piece is embedded into the light amber "glass".

4. Make your altered canvas with masks, gesso, embossing powders, mists and whatever you  want. Add your casted  and glossed pieces as shown. Cover the chipboard title and numbers with a thin layer of High Gloss Finish (make a small position of it just to make the glossy finish to all possible metal pieces and chipboards)For the Mixed Media project don't worry about " bleeding  colors" ; don't  use sealer over the chipboard title and numbers as we love this non perfect result.

5. And now for the fun part: use the used ETI brush as a part of you project. Those are the brushed that come with measurement glasses and they are disposable.  After you use it  once its just a trash. So let's use it as a part of our project! This is all about Create- use the brush underline the title. (I changed the metal handle color with a drop of alcohol ink). Add some  paint splashes and enjoy you creation!

And this is my final project:

I really hope you got some ETI inspiration from my canvas and see you again soon with another ETI project.

Live with promise and Laugh with pleasure

Hello my dear crafty friends!
This is my new  post made for my new DT for Two Paper Divas stamp company.
This is new USA based stamp company with gorgeous delicate acrylic stamps and a lot of digital images too.
So here is my lovely new card  and I used two gorgeous stamp  sets from TRD to make this card.
 A bit about this card:
I made dry embossed background and added black chalkboard paint over the distressed areas. Then I distressed it again to get this vintage look of the background.
The frame was hand cut and then painted with crackled paint and inked over the dry paint.
I stamped flowers using Seed Packet Flowers one single stamp to make this chalkboard effect: stamp with white ink and then heat emboss with white powder. The sentiment stamp was stamped with the same technique.
Some pearls were added for the interest and some blue ink splashes for the splash of color.

Let your dreams sail!

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here and I am very happy to continue to design for Die-Versions for my second year.
I already made my first post a week ago with Tweety Pie set, so now it's Sail Away turn.

As this set is kind of a themed one, I used Beaches themed paper from PHP as my background and then added three squares with three different die cut shapes from this set. Each shape was stamped with blue pigmented ink and heat embossed with clear powder. Then I inked it a bit with Tea Die distress ink and glued with 3d foam over the background.

You can follow the Die-Versions BlogFacebook Page, and shop till you drop at the Die-Versions Website!!!
Hope you like my card and hope to see you here again soon with my next project.
